Get Out!

OK, so our long few weeks of self-imposed suffering is over. We have some more snow, you won’t freeze your rear end off any more and conditions are excellent. This is the weekend to start hitting the trails for some of the finest riding we’ve seen in a long time. As an added bonus, February is when snowmobile events start kicking in all over the state. There’s some great things going on this weekend, so it’s time to saddle-up and enjoy a terrific month. Here’s what’s going on:

The 14th Annual Lincoln Snowhounds Sno-Cross Races are this Saturday and Sunday Feb 8-9 at the Clubhouse on the Town Farm Road in Lincoln. Enjoy two great days of racing and you can ride right to the event. You don’t want to miss this one.

Speaking of crowds, the World Record Snowmobile Ride is Saturday, Feb. 8 at Bald Mountain Camps in Oquossoc. If being part of a world record (in this case the largest group of snowmobiles on Mooselookmeguntic Lake) is your thing, this is the place to be. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Again, the best way to get there is by sled, and conditions are great.

If you’re headed north, this is also the weekend of the 10th annual Andy Santerre Sno Run to benefit AMHC Sexual Assault Services. Activities go on all day including a 100-mile ride led by Andy himself. Same thing – great trails, great folks, be a part of it.

Those are a few highlights, but there are things going on from one end of the state to the other, and all are accessible from your sled. Check out the MSA’s Calendar of Events to see them all.

Have a great time this weekend and remember to ride right and ride smart. Check in next week for a preview of a fantastic holiday weekend and school vacation week coming up!
